Colorful 18㎡ Flat Pack Container Homestay Cabins in Thailand

Thailand’s boutique homestay and glamping market thrives on unique design and flexible layouts. In a coastal homestay cluster, 18㎡ flat pack boxes were used to build independent guest units, typically combining two or three modules to form 36–54㎡ private stays with terraces.

The exterior adopted colorful metal carved panels to create a vibrant, Instagram-ready façade that appeals to younger travellers. For the wall system, a combination of EPS and rock wool cores was used: EPS panels in standard areas for cost-effective insulation, and rock wool panels around cooking spaces and higher-risk sections to improve fire performance.

Inside, bamboo wood fibre panels gave each room a warm, natural look that fit local aesthetic preferences, while PVC flooring was used for its moisture resistance in humid tropical conditions. Each unit featured a small front terrace and optional roof deck sections, allowing guests to enjoy outdoor lounging and sea views, further enhancing the overall stay experience.

By mixing different panel cores and finishes within the same modular framework, the homestay was able to control costs while still delivering distinctive, comfortable accommodation that stood out in a competitive tourism market.
